Chapter 1
Nero: Hm? There’s a really strong scent of spices ‘round here…but it doesn’t smell like the kind often used in confectionery.
Shop Owner: Young man, come take a look! I’ve got a bunch of unique chocolates up for sale, specially made for cooking purposes. Anything catch your eye?
Nero: Huh, that sounds pretty interesting.
Shop Owner: My shop’s got a good variety of chocolates fit to be used for cooking, feel free to take a sample as you browse.
Nero: Let’s see here…
Nero: …There’s a good mix of herbs in this white chocolate. Something as rich as this could go well with white sauce.
Nero: This chocolate here’s got a bitter flavour. It tastes like pepper was used to make up for its lack of sugar…I could throw it in a meat dish or maybe even blend it in with some tomato.
Rustica: All those ideas sound delicious and very wonderful! I’d expect nothing less from our very impressive chef.
Nero: W-What!?...Oh, it’s just you, Mr. Bridegroom.
Rustica: Hello, Nero. I caught a glimpse of your delighted expression as I was passing by, and my curiosity led me here.
Rustica: Have you found a chocolate so enticing it’s got you drawn to this store?
Nero: …I guess you could say that.
Nero: They’ve got a bunch of interesting stuff here, though I’m not sure if it's because this is the Western Country, or if it’s the high standards of the Queen’s Fair.
Rustica: To have someone of your skill show such interest in these chocolates…I’m sure they must be extremely delicious and of fantastic quality.
Rustica: I shall have a taste, too.
Chapter 2
Nero: Hey, wait! That’s..
Rustica: What a very…
Rustica: …Interesting taste.
Rustica: It is not very sweet, but rather a little bitter…or perhaps, spicy. I think I’ll need some time to warm up to this one.
Nero: Sorry…I should’ve warned you earlier.
Nero: This is meant to add flavour to a dish, it’s not suited for direct consumption.
Rustica: Add flavour?
Nero: Yeah, the one you just tried would go especially well with some meat stew.
Nero: Meat can sometimes have a pungent smell, but if you boil some of this chocolate with that meat, the smell would get much milder. Adding chocolates also makes the dish more flavourful.
Rustica: I see. These sound like wonderful chocolates!
Nero: Right? I plan on buying a few bars back to use for tonight’s dinner.
Rustica: Will you really? Such wonderful chocolate in the hands of an equally wonderful cook…I can’t wait to see what sort of amazing dish will be produced!
Rustica: I’ll have to avoid eating too many chocolates here, lest I do not have enough stomach space for dinner later.
Nero: Haha…I’ll have to make good work of tonight’s dinner then, so you’ll be able to taste this chocolate at it’s best.
Card Episode - Beware of The Sweet Temptation
Akira: Thank you for the dinner, Nero. The milk soup was extremely delicious!
Nero: No problem. I made it while preparing for tomorrow’s dishes, I hope you didn’t mind that dinner wasn’t anything too fancy.
Akira: Not at all! The soup warmed my belly, I think I’ll be able to sleep comfortably tonight!
Nero: That’s good to hear. I added in some chocolates we bought at the Queen’s Fair, which should’ve helped bring out the soup’s flavour. How was it? Pretty good, right?
Akira: Oh! I was wondering what those were…So they were chocolates…!
Akira: It looks like you bought back quite a lot of items. How was the fair?
Nero: Well…Before we went, I thought only kids would get all excited seeing rows and rows of chocolate and candy…I sure didn’t expect to see a bunch of artisanal chocolates. It was loads of fun, really.
Nero: Sweet stuff like chocolates really are delicious, especially when you take a bite after not having some for ages.
Akira: Exactly! Once you’ve started eating them, it makes you so happy you just can’t stop.
Nero: Yeah, I didn’t really have any opportunities to eat sweet things when I was a kid, but if I did, I’m sure I would’ve gotten addicted to them.
Nero: If I think back on how I might’ve been the same in my childhood, it really makes me understand why kids would go crazy over a sweet snack.
